Faith Kipyegon knows how to perform when it matters. The Olympic 1500m champion gives us the lowdown on what makes her tick.
Championship tip
To reach the top you need to do four things: train hard, eat well, rest well and stay focused. This is the foundation of success.
Tactical tip
I don’t really incorporate special tactics. The key for me is to stay focused and take every race seriously, whether it is a championship or not.
When you are looking to improve in every race or training that you do, you automatically build towards reaching a higher level.
Psychological tip
You have to be honest with yourself and always believe in yourself, that’s my advice!
Coaching tip
My most important learning has been to listen to the signs of your body to make sure you stay healthy and not get injured.
To deliver top performances you need to be healthy during the lead-up to a race. A great preparation is the key to success.
Cooking tip
It is very important for athletes that your diet is well-balanced. Your body needs to receive enough vitamins, minerals and protein as we always push the body to its limits.
Fashion tip
Ha, I am the wrong person to ask. I’m not really into fashion. I just wear clothes I like and feel comfortable in.
Driving tip
In Kenya we say 'pole pole', which means 'not too quick'. It is the best way to stay safe on the road. I like to think that I am a pretty good driver!
Vacation tip
I can really recommend Maasai Mara National Park in Kenya. There are many beautiful animals you can spot there and the scenery is breathtaking!
Parental tip
Make sure you work hard to reach your goals!
